ames “Larry” Wilson passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 11, 2024. Born on October 1, 1951 in New Orleans, Louisiana to the late James “Ford” Wilson and Ella Mae Wilson, his family moved to Severna Park, MD when he was a toddler. There he graduated from Severna Park High School in 1970, shortly after which he started his lifelong vocation in auto mechanics. He excelled in it and won many awards, including a cruise and a trip to Las Vegas. He worked at Bert Spriggs of Annapolis until his retirement. Larry enjoyed boating with his friends, fishing, and crabbing on the Bay. He loved water sports, especially skiing. For twenty years, Larry sang karaoke on Friday nights with his friends, and could often be heard singing Frank Sinatra with his great voice. His passion for many years was bowling. He bowled at Annapolis Bowl in shorts-even in winter-and his team always got a kick out of that. He won the coveted gold and diamond ring for striking a “300” game. Larry could be found at his home away from home, Heroes Pub, pretty much daily. He considered the owners and everyone who worked there his family. He always tried to be there for their charitable causes, and gave to “give back” to support them. He loved to tell jokes, even to strangers, and they left as his new friends. He was at one time an Annapolis Elk and supported their causes as well. He went to OCMD every summer for his entire life. He loved the Crabcake Factory on 120th, especially their crab cakes and “bloodies”. Fagers was also a favorite, and he often stayed until 8:00 for the “Overture”, which always teared him up. He really enjoyed what “Parker’s” do, oysters on the half shell. He loved when friends came down to stay with him, but he really enjoyed the family trips. The “this is what a real man does at the beach” picture was a favorite. On June 10, 2019, he and Weezie got married on the beach, where they enjoyed the ocean, pool, and fine dining. Larry played little league baseball, and continued to play on numerous teams throughout the years. He was a little league coach, and enjoyed passing on his love of the game. He supported his Orioles, and enjoyed watching Ravens games…mostly loudly. He was taught how to play tennis by his mom, and would get a kick out of beating the pros. He also enjoyed weightlifting, to stay in shape. He enjoyed his role as step-dad to Jason, Matthew, and Katie Nutwell, and Pop to Khloë, John, Theo, Christopher, Kyle, and Mackenzie. His favorite times were the holidays when the house was full and the food kept coming. Larry is survived by his devoted wife, Louise “Weezie”; his step-children, Jason, Matthew, and Katie Nutwell; his grandchildren, Khloë, John, Theo, Christopher, Kyle, and Mackenzie; his siblings, Dianne (Terry) Roberts of CT, Kay (Bill) Anderson of PA, and Mark (Kiki) of Florida and Severna Park, MD; numerous nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews he loved as well. His kindness, generosity, spirited personality, and unwavering determination will leave a lasting impact on all who knew and loved him. Calm seas “sweet man”. Friends and family are invited to celebrate Larry’s life on Sunday, August 25, 2024 at the Kalas Funeral Home & Crematory, 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater, MD from 1:00 pm until his memorial service begins at 3:00 pm.
